Job Requirements/Description

BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Graduate programme you will be required to attend your site 4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world. We are the only provider of complex warships and their combat managements to the UK Royal Navy’s surface fleet. What you will be doing

As a Graduate you will work within the Warship Engineering discipline, specifically within the survivability engineering team. Within this team you may undertake ship signature, vulnerability or shock modelling and analysis. You will be working collaboratively with the team in providing advice and guidance to the Platform Designers to ensure that the survivability targets are met. You will be responsible for the delivery of survivability tasks, delivering against the project design requirements. Some key activities may include:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with the engineering teams to deliver the modelling & analysis activities required by each project;
  • Assisting in the delivery of the verification activities for survivability;
  • Maintaining Signatures/Survivability predictions in line with the project design requirements; assisting with the mitigation of non-compliances and risks; working across project disciplines to achieve resolution;
  • Supporting the system design development by the other engineering domains and detail design teams, ensuring compliance with survivability requirements and design rules;
  • Assessing supplier evidence against survivability requirements and presenting status to wider business and customer community;
  • Performing and reviewing equipment noise and vibration measurements;
  • Progressive refinement and updating of signature and survivability models as maturity of supplier’s data increases.

Skills

  • As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either a Science or Engineering subject.
